Reverend Dr. Frank Portee III  Reverend Dr. Frank Portee III Dr. Portee is a native of South Carolina. He is the newly appointed Pastor of the Church of the Good Shepherd UMC in Willingboro, NJ. He was the former Senior Pastor of the Church of the Redeemer (PC-USA) in South Central Los Angeles since 1999. He has served United Methodist congregations in Orangeburg and Charleston, South Carolina, in addition to Southern California, for more than 20 years.
He served as the Director of Empowerment and Organizing for Interfaith Impact on Capitol Hill; the Executive Secretary for African American Ministries and National Shalom Coordinator for the General Board of Global Ministries-UMC in New York City. His skill set includes the discipline of socio-theological ethics with a focus on urban politics, congregational transformation and community-based organizing. He is the founder of the Pacific Institute of Word and Witness that sponsors the Annual African American Pastors Conference.
Reverend Portee has earned degrees from Carson-Newman College, Interdenominational Theological Center, Wesley Theological Seminary, with extended studies at the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) in Alcohol and Drug Counseling.
He is married to the former Yvonne Fersner of Orangeburg, a former Paralegal for the Walt Disney Corporation in Burbank, California. They are the proud parents of two daughters: Alyssa, a junior at Hampton University and Akela, a freshman at Clark-Atlanta University. |
